There is a town in Italy
the town is called Padua
In this town there was a school
the school was called Kiklos
which meant Circle
It was an International School of Theatre Creation
The first form of the school
appeared in the year 2000
and ended in the year 2004.
It lived through five seasons
of pedagogical excellence
rigorous fun
and naïve management.

A team of twelve teachers joined their voices
and sixty courageous poets came to this harbour
and did their journey here,
training and creating.

The school was founded on a vision and on an illusion
The vision was a place of committed learning and teaching
on the way of the poetic body
The illusion was the circle
a space of equal responsibility, equal commitment and equal power.

But the circle alone is closed and stagnant
it doesn’t allow the difference, the sword and the growth.
While the line alone is destructive and dry
it doesn’t allow the sharing, the belonging and the roots.
When the two meets the SPIRAL appears
a creative movement of permanent evolution and expansion
where the elders lead and the apprenters follow
the new challenges the old
and everybody serves a highest vision
each in a different role.

So the first form of Kìklos decided to end
and it cut itself open with the sword.
letting the space empty for the birth of the spiral.

During these years of travels and researches, the spiral has gatherd strength and clarity about its own nature.
Now a new school, HELIKOS
is getting ready to open its halls and its practice
with the memory of the past
the excitement of the present
and the vision of the future.

Helikos will welcome its new students in the fall of 2009.
